Pregrada municipality covers the surface of 67, 26 km² with the population of 7 165 inhabitants according to the population census from the year 2001. Average density of the populated area is 107 inhabitants/km².

The settlement of Pregrada alone covers the surface of 10,9 km² with the population of 1 564 inhabitants. Although the number of inhabitants is falling, this area is among the areas with the highest density of the population in the Republic of Croatia.

Backbone route Pregrada - Krapinske Toplice enables better connection with the town of Zagreb. The route north – south connects the road Krapinske Toplice - Pregrada – Hum na Sutli - Rogatec, and the route east – west the road Krapina - Pregrada - Desinić - Miljana.

Pregrada has one kindergarten, one elementary school with 5 branches, and one high school with courses: general – program secondary school, pharmaceutical technician, nurse/medical technician, cosmetician, chef and waiter and secondary music school
