Municipality

The town of Krapina is a cultural, political and governmental centre of Krapina Zagorje County. It covers the surface of 48 km² with the population of 12 950 inhabitants according to the population census from the year 2001. Average density of the populated area is 223 inhabitants/km².

By its geographical location, it represent the main entrance in Republic of Croatia and its connection to the central Europe which will be significantly improved by finishing the highway E-59 as a part of European road system. Krapina is well connected with Slovenian, Austrian and Hungarian counties. Also, it is very good connected with Zagreb, Varaždin and Međimurje county and other cities and municipalities in the Krapina Zagorje County.

The construction of a modern international passenger and goods railway system to Vienna is planed in Krapina with a turning point towards Varaždin.

Krapina has his own customs which makes export and import easier.

The inhabitants of the town of Krapina have a possibility to rent apartments. The average price of renting an apartment is 2 and 4 €/m².

Krapina has 2 kindergartens, 2 elementary schools and 1 high school with courses: language high school, general – program secondary school, mathematic, engineering, electro technician, tourism and hospitality, gas installer, car tinman, car mechanic, turner, locksmith, electro installer, car electrician, electro mechanic, salesman, hairdresser and one common college.
