Processing industry was always and is still the main strength of Croatia’s economy. Metal processing sector in Croatia takes the third place in export after food processing industry and non metal processing industry. FDI in metal processing sector in period form 1993. – 2007. was 42.1 milion Euro (30% of total FDI in Croatia). In Croatia’s metal processing industry there are 2.219 companies (15.4% of all companies in procesing industry).
At the area of the Region in a Metal processing sector, it is employed a total of 2.685 employees, which is a 10% of total amount of the employed in a Processing industry. A Metal processing branch of the Region has a total income of 931.990.235 Kuna, which is 11,72% of a total income in a Processing industry of the Region.
In the Green Croatia Region there are 173 companies that are doing business in the metal processing sector. They employ 2.685 workers. During the years number of employees is slowly increasing. According to the information form the Croatian National Bank in the period form 1993. -2007. total amount of FDI in the Region was 9.46 million Euro. 2.32% of the investment was in County Bjelovarsko bilogorska and the rest in County Krapinsko zagorska. No FDI was made in County Koprivničko križevačka.
The new potential workforce are high school students. In the Region there were 1.773 students enrolled in the school year 2006/2007 which were educated for metal processing business.
The most important companies in metal processing industry of the Region are OMCO Croatia, Jedinstvo, Ljevaonica Bjelovar.
Significant increase of the production in the metal processing industry is depending on increasing of export, implementing of new technologies and products and in connecting with domestic and foreign companies.
