The forests at the area of the Region, from the ecological and economical aspect, do count in a group of the most preserved forests and the forests of the best quality in Croatia.
The total area of forests in a total area of the Region is 38,6%, what is almost 4,6 % of all forests in Croatia.
Among the sorts of the woods there are mostly beech and oak tree, and in a least percentage there are hornbeam, ash, ader, cerris and coniferous wood.
The main branches of wood processing industry at the area of the Region are the processing of the woods and making of the products from the wood, as well as furniture production.
The area of the Region is well known also as an area with a lots of capacities for a production of cutting constructions, and there are a few companies whose services are equipping of locales, making of roof constructions, production of doors, scrolling barriering walls and wood wall claddings.
In a wood processing activity of the Region, the well known companies are: Brestovec- wood complex ltd., DI-ČAZMA ltd., PRIMA-BJELOVAR ltd., Iverica ltd., Bilokalnik-wood ltd., Javor ltd., Mopar ltd., HAAS home ltd. and others.
The biggest export is to the countries: Germany, Italy, Norway, Switzerland, France, Sweden, Bosnia and Herzegovina and other countries.
The sector is supposed to be atracting to investitors because of a big processing potential  and a raw base which is a very good quality, certified and available, but the possibilities that do offer with investing in this sector are among all experience and tradition in a wood processing activity, availability of staff and existing of an excellent growth potential.
