Workforce
According to the Croatian Employment Agency, the unemployment rate in Green Croatia Region in the last five years spreads between 14-17% with a larger share of unemployed women, while men are dominant in the workforce (sum of unemployed and employed). The most of the unemployed are in the age of 50 and above and persons with high school and skilled and non skilled workers.
Most of the workers are organised in unions and in the last three years, 25 organised strikes have been recorded.
The knowledge of foreign languages is based on primary and secondary education, but the recent analyses show that companies are organizing foreign language courses for their employees and also more and more of the unemployed are improving their skills and knowledge by learning foreign languages as a form of non – formal education.
Based on the analysis performed in 2005 by Eurobarometar - Europeans and Languages, 71% of Croatian is using at least one foreign language.
Most represented are German, Slovenian, and English. A fewer number are acquainted with Spanish, French and Hungarian.
